Where my Work at Home Moms at? High five to you, sisters! We are doing this thing, am I right?! Well, that’s how I feel a few days out of the week. Today, eh… I’m struggling.

I’m going to be honest. Sometimes working from home can be a little too cozy for me. Like, I just want to stay in bed. Sleep in a little. Tell myself that this is a perk to actually being able to work from home. But I know this isn’t true. My guides tell me so. They give me the nudges to do more, and those days where it is hard for me to get motivated there are 5 things I need to do to get me focused and in the zone. Hopefully, they work for you!

5 Things I Do to Get Work Done at Home

Make Your Bed I don’t know about you, but I don’t feel as if I can really start my day if my bed is not made. I wasn’t always like this. In fact, before I met my husband I very rarely made my bed. I just never saw the need. After all, when I would return home from work/school I would eventually hop back in there. Why waste time making the bed in the first place? My husband and winters in Chicago changed all that. Those nicely tucked in sheets and smoothed out comforter makes for a super inviting, cozy environment after you’ve been battling negative degree weather all day. And now, since I work from home, going into my room and seeing an unmade bed just makes me feel unaccomplished. Like, if I make my bed for the day, then at least I’ve done something productive. And truly, it really ignites something to get other things done and checked off my to-do list!

Shower I have to rinse off daily. Soap my body. Feel the water wash over me and clear off any bad lingering energy. It’s so rejuvenating and refreshing. I hope we never, as stewards of this Earth, have to worry about a lack of water. Do not take this luxury for granted, friends. This is just another item on my list to really take on my day and keep me focused. I don’t go all out every day, washing my hair or taking a long bath. A nice clean off with soap, ending the shower on the coldest setting? YES. I can climb mountains after an icy cold ending to my shower!

Meditate I squeeze this in most days. In part, because it is part of the job. If I can’t connect to my own energy and ground it, how am I supposed to connect for you and deliver messages from the Divine? It won’t happen. In order to do the work, you have to DO THE WORK. Also, it helps me get super focused and I receive nice little messages to help keep me in my creative flow. It’s a super win-win for all.

Get Off Social Media Seriously, who else can relate? There are days I get online to work on some things and I glance at the clock to see that two hours went by. WHAT?! I spent two hours of my time doing nothing?! Friends, let’s not waste our time doing this. We’ve got things to accomplish. No amount of resharing spiritual quotes, researching food recipes, or watching funny videos is going to help us achieve all the things. It’s not. This also goes hand in hand with…

Block Time Yes. You need to block off your time. Seriously. Do you have a planner? Maybe you are into making lists? If either one of these things are your jam then you are two steps ahead! Create time to be on social media. Make space to check your email at certain times and don’t be allured by the constant dinging of your phone. If you have to, turn off all notifications. That’s how I manage. Sometimes I get off track, but I really am so much more productive when I go into my calendar and see what I’ve planned for myself.
